Gold Coast’s premier trainer Les Kelly has given punters a strong lead by outlining ambitious plans for two of his five runners who will start on their home track on Wednesday.
Kelly has named Freddie Fox Trot and She’s A Youeffoh as the best of his stable quintet.
Freddie Fox Trot, barrier three and She’s A Youeffoh, barrier four, will both be ridden by Ryan Plumb when they start in the Class Five Handicap (1200m) and Benchmark 70 Handicap (1800m) respectively.
Freddie Fox Trot has won five of his seven starts including his latest first-up win in a Class Six at Doomben last month.
Kelly has a big opinion of Freddie Fox Trot who has had to overcome immaturity throughout his short career.
“He’s still improving and he could be anything once the penny drops with him,” Kelly said.
“He was really hard to saddle early in his career and he’s got his own antics I’ve had to put up with.
“He’ll go through the classes for the time being but ultimately he’ll head towards the summer carnival races.
“I think he’s capable of winning anything on his day.”
Kelly sent Freddie Fox Trot back to the breaker after he won four of his first five starts before targeting the Brisbane winter carnival.
“He did a great job in his first campaign but I thought he needed another break after he ran fifth in the Gold Coast Guineas (in May),” he said.
Kelly is targeting the Magic Millions Trophy at the Gold Coast in January with She’s A Youeffoh.
She’s A Youeffoh was successful over 1800 metres in Class Four grade at the Gold Coast on September 22 which took her record to four wins and as many placings from 14 starts.
“She’s a very promising stayer and we’re hoping she’ll measure up to the Magic Millions Trophy in the summer,” Kelly said.
Kelly also has Solo Melody entered for the Benchmark 65 Handicap (900m), Aggravate in the Class Three Handicap (1100m) and Ruler in the Benchmark 65 Handicap (1400m).
