Punter's Guide to Thoroughbred Tracks
OUR OVERANOVA (6) will appreciate the small field here and with a superb AP record from the mobile looks mighty hard to stop racking up his 40th victory on the track. A beaten fav last start from the 55m behind RELEVEN DREAM, he should be too classy here.
RELEVEN DREAM (5) had been building towards a victory and was able to capitalise here last start when sent to the front from his 10m impost. Taking control in front he was never in danger in scoring a 10m victory. Only 2m off MAYBETOTHEMAX 2 starts back he can ask the questions here.
HELLBOUND (1) will appreciate the mobile conditions with all 6 career wins coming from the MS. Forget his past 2 starts from the tapes where he has made a mess of the start, he can improve here.
SELECTIONS: OUR OVERANOVA (6), RELEVEN DREAM (5), HELLBOUND (1)
SUGGESTED BET: OUR OVERANOVA (6) to win
PATSDELIGHT (2) is in superb form with wins at her past 4 in successions. Last time out she stepped straight to the front and was never threatened in scoring a 3m victory. That followed a win from the mobile 2280m at Redcliffe and with a safe start she can press on and look to dictate.
ULTIMATE DAIQUIRI (4) will take good benefit from her latest start when returning after a 7 week break between runs. Settling in the 1x1 from gate 3 under mobile conditions she was attacking the line strongly to get within 2m of the winner MIRACLE RISING. At her 1st Aus start from the tapes she can challenge.
LAVROS TEXAS (6) resumes from a break after winning his Aus debut back in April. Settling in the pocket trail he finished best to defeat NEEDLE. With no public trial to prepare, he may just need the run.
SELECTIONS: PATSDELIGHT (2), ULTIMATE DAIQUIRI (4) LAVROS TEXAS (6)
FLASH UNDER FIRE (2) will be tightened from his latest start when returning from a spell over the mile. Sliding in behind the leader from gate 1 he went to the inside in the stretch to grab 3rd when beaten 1.5m. Fitter from the run he finds a winnable contest here.
BONNIE JUJON (7) is the best horse in the race, with the worst gate and will be resuming from a spell. Last seen when only beaten 7m after sitting 3-wide for a long way at Redcliffe behind JANUARY, she was placed in the mares Triad Final 4 starts back. With the right run she can claim this.
ARES (6) was buried in the run from inside the 2nd line last start and chased home well to claim the bronze behind the smart LUCKY UNLUCKY. He charged late to score here 4 back and has podium claims.
ROCKWITH THEDEVIL (3) tried to take them all the way here over the 2138m trip 3 starts back when holding on for 3rd. Sliding down to the pegs from gate 4 last start he wasn’t far away and has exotic hopes once again.
SELECTIONS: FLASH UNDER FIRE (2), BONNIE JUJON (7), ARES (6), ROCKWITH THEDEVIL (3)
FRANCO TOTEM (7) shoots for the hat-trick after packing too many guns in the breeze last start over the mile which followed a swooping win over the 2138m. Despite the tricky gate to overcome here, yet with there looking some good early tempo he can look to issue the closing challenge.
SOME EXCUSESOMEWHERE (6) charged across from gate 4 to lead them up here last start over the mile and setting a slick closing 800m was grabbed up the passing lane on the line by ARGYLE BEACH. That made it 2 from 3 since arriving in Qld and set alight early if he can sneak a stanza will be ahrd to rundown.
LENNY THE LEGEND (3) went back from gate 6 here on Tues and never worked into the race after finding himself too far back when the sprint went on. Settling closer here he will be charging home.
BOBBIES GIRL (4) went back from gate 7 in a mares qualifier here 2 starts back and was able to finish over the top for a nice wine
SELECTIONS: FRANCO TOTEM (7), SOME EXCUSESOMEWHERE (6), LENNY THE LEGEND (3), BOBBIES GIRL (4)
EXCEPTIONAL MACH (4) will take good benefit from his latest start when working home in good order from the 2nd line to finish with the bronze behind OUR MELS DREAM. With 3 starts back since having break he can look to fire the first shot here and from the front will take some catching.
OUR MELS DREAM (7) has bounced back in good style and has now been in the money at his past 4 with 2 of those victories. Last start from the 2nd line he worked home strongly wide out over the mile and arrive for a narrow victory. With no favours from the gate he can still challenge.
RORY MACH (5) drops back to claiming company after taking on conditioned events at his past 3 starts where he has placed in each. Only 2m from CHAPTER ONE 2 starts back he is right in the fight.
SICILIAN SLUMBER (1) found the pocket trail on Tues and used the passing lane to get within 3.5m of the winner SIR JULIANN. With good early speed he can secure a cosy trip here and has podium hopes.
SELECTIONS: EXCEPTIONAL MACH (4), OUR MELS DREAM (7), RORY MACH (5), SICILIAN SLUMBER (1)
SUGGESTED BET: EXCEPTIONAL MACH (4) to win
TORI MAY (8) had been working towards a maiden breaking win and was able to deliver it on the last day of last season. With factors going her way in the run here, she is worth a throw at the stumps in a wide-open contest.
JUST ROKIN (9) looked to take them all the way from gate 5 over the mile 3 starts back and was only grabbed in the latter stages when 2m from LAUGHING EMOJI. She followed that with a passing lane 2nd to LUCKY UNLUCKY and with even luck she has claims here.
CARDLESFROMHEAVEN (10) is a 4YO gelding on debut for Ian Gurney by Rock N Roll Heaven. He was impressive in a recent trial victory and despite a tricky gate stays under notice.
FORTES IN FIDE (1) features in a stable change and will step out for Errol Cain here. A Redcliffe winner 3 starts back he was only a nose from the winner last start. The gate is a big bonus.
SELECTIONS: TORI MAY (8), JUST ROKIN (9), CARDLESFROMHEAVEN (10), FORTES IN FIDE (1)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-8-9-10
PATERNITY SUIT (2) will strip fitter from his latest start when returning from an 8 week break. Starting from the 2nd line he chased home the smart LUCKY UNLUCKY over the 2138m trip. He returns to his preferred trip of the mile and finding the front can dictate.
COREY WILLIAM (5) returned from a break in good order scoring a good win from the front over the mile. Forced to work in the run when circling to the breeze when 2nd up the run had merit when fading late behind SPRING CAMPAIGN. Freshened since that run he can feature here.
JUST SEDUCE ME (9) makes her Qld debut for Narissa McMullen and looked in good order in a recent trial. A smart all-the-way winner at Mildura 3 starts back she will get a nice trail through here and has podium claims.
ADRIFT (3) is in search of a hat-trick of victories after wins here over the mile and then the 2138m trip. He faces a tougher trip here but is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: PATERNITY SUIT (2), COREY WILLIAM (5), JUST SEDUCE ME (9), ADRIFT (3)
SUGGESTED BET: PATERNITY SUIT (2) to win
ARGYLE BEACH (5) landed a three-peat of victories last start when finishing best up the passing lane to score a stylish win and running home a sizzling sub 55 last 800m. That followed a strong all-the-way effort from gate 7 over the 2138m and with versatility she looks hard to stop here.
SIR JULIAN (6) scored his 1st AP victory here on Tues at his 20th attempt after proving too strong from the breeze over the mile. That followed a solid 2nd from the 2nd line in a qualifier and with a top 3 finish in over half of his 20 appearances and the confidence from the win can feature again.
JERRYS JET (7) has the wide gate to negotiate here but should appreciate some tempo in the run here. Finishing best of the chasing pack behind SPIKE BROMAC last start he has place claims in this.
PARISIAN ROCKSTAR (3) has been freshened since a sub-par effort over the 2138m where there were some excuses. 3rd to the in-form NONE BETTOR 2 starts back he can be sharper here.
SELECTIONS: ARGYLE BEACH (5), SIR JULIAN (6), JERRYS JET (7), PARISIAN ROCKSTAR (3)
