Sunshine State Success Adds To Super Season

Team Frisby is flying!

But like all good things, they must come to an end.

Well, sort of.

Fresh from their best season ever, the father/son combination of Chris and Anthony Frisby have decided to pack up and return home to Bathurst.

Since June, they have racked up 20 victories on Queensland soil while their overall tally for the just completed term sits at 56.

“It’s been a heck of a year and the Queensland campaign has been unbelievably successful, it’s been very enjoyable and we’re already looking at next year.” Trainer Chris Frisby said.

Queensland is no stranger to hosting several southern stables during the winter; many make it an annual pilgrimage as they look for a mid-year break while escaping the cooler climate.

In recent years, the Frisby stable has been regular visitors to the Sunshine State but their most recent campaign is clearly their most profitable.

Based at Tweed Heads on the border along with Dean Cernovskis, Scott Hewitt, Katie Jenner and Dennis Picker, they all competed regularly at both Albion Park and Redcliffe.

At one stage, there was over 30 horses been trained at their makeshift facility.

But the Frisby stable led the way.

“It’s so important to bring the right type of horses and ones that are on good marks, we put plenty of time into making sure we had the right team to bring up and luckily, we got it right.

“Every horse we raced up here ended up winning a race or two and most of them did it at Albion Park which is very satisfying. Our Uncle Sam picked up a few features while Major Occasion just got beaten in the Queensland Oaks after doing all the work.

“We really enjoyed our time and had great camaraderie with all of the other guys based down at the Tweed. I’ve only left one horse behind; Alpha Styx is switching over to Mal Charlton while all others have come home.”

Our Uncle Sam won the Listed $25,540 Lucky Creed at Albion Park and the Listed $25,450 Garrards Patrons Purse at Redcliffe.

Team Frisby have arrived back at their Bathurst base but head to TABCORP Park, Menangle this Saturday night.

The stable has just purchased New Zealand pacer Lincoln Street.

And expect the duo to keep churning out the winners this season.
